Don’t Call It a Unicorn Until You Read This
The Unicorn I’m Only Responsible For…is a T-shirt design by a Seattle based artist named Jake Doyle. It’s the latest in a long line of tongue and cheek statements by Doyle that makes the rounds on the Internet funny and then even more infuriating to the right wing crowd. If you’re not familiar with Doyle, he’s a member of what is known as “The New York City Punk Rock Club,” which is a subculture of musicians and artists that are highly revered by the far right in America and around the world. Because he makes comments that many people consider to be offensive, his popularity has grown tremendously in recent years and he sells out almost every show he appears at.
So, if you’re going to wear a shirt that makes fun of someone who is politically incorrect or makes light of any sort of religion or race that most of us believe in, then you better call it unicorn themed, or find another shirt to wear. Of course, this isn’t the first time Doyle has done this. Back in 2021 he did a shirt that said “ienced vet, unicorn experience.” He also did a shirt that said, “I’m only responsible for what I say.” Now, obviously the difference between the last two is the word “orymosis” in the second and the actual word in the first.
If you want to wear a T-shirt that makes fun of someone because they are a member of a group that you hate or disagree with, then do so without reference to unicorns! That is the spirit of free speech we are talking about here. And it is amazing that these so called “cultural leaders” feel that they need to use the word “unicorn” in their promotional materials to sell out their cause. Please, everyone please keep this spirit in your heart when wearing your Unicorn I’m Only Responsible For…shirts.
